Summer Camp Positions

SUMMER CAMP 2021 COUNSELOR / INSTRUCTOR POSITIONS

Counselor / Instructor Positions, Ages 5-6, 7-10

  • Job Title: Counselor / Instructor
  • Supervisor’s Title: Director
  • Orientation Dates: June 29, 30, & July 1
  • Summer Camp Dates: July 12 - August 20
  • Hours: M-F 8:30-4pm (alternates doing extended stay until 5)
  • Compensation: $3,690 for summer employment + training

General Responsibilities: Responsible for daily supervision of campers & implementation of summer camp curriculum. It is the Counselor / Instructor’s duty to keep to the camp’s schedule and ensure that all children are safe and happy.

Specific Duties: Daily management of 12-20 campers with another Counselor / Instructor in Textile Arts Center & Prospect Park.  Primarily responsible for leading textile art classes, leading free-time/free-craft and organized play, and leading attendance at drop of and dismissal. Position also entails: occasional late stay, administering first aid or summoning emergency help as needed; maintaining group medical log; escorting campers to and from all activities and walkable field trips; on-going evaluation of programming by photographing work, updating lesson plans if needed, and other administrative tasks.

Qualifications: A background in youth education, strong classroom management skills, proactive, gives and takes direction well and always willing to help. Strong applicants are experienced in a creative classroom environment, with interest and knowledge in the arts, in particular textiles. Must be at least 18 years of age and have a love of the outdoors. First Aid and CPR training is required for the start of camp. If you are not certified Textile Arts Center will pay for your certification

  • Job Title: Counselor / Instructor
  • Supervisor’s Title: Director
  • Orientation Dates:  June 29, 30, & July 1
  • Tweens Summer Camp Dates:  July 26 - August 20 (M-F)
  • Hours: M-F 8:30-4pm (alternates doing extended stay until 5pm)
  • Compensation: $2,490 for summer employment + training

General Responsibilities: Responsible for daily supervision of campers & implementation of summer camp curriculum. It is the Counselor / Instructor’s duty to keep to the camp’s schedule and ensure all children are safe and happy.

Specific Duties: Daily management of up to 10 campers in Textile Arts Center & Prospect Park. Primarily responsible for leading textile art classes, leading free-time/free-craft and organized play, and leading attendance at drop of and dismissal. Position also entails: occasional late stay, administering first aid or summoning emergency help as needed; maintaining group medical log; escorting campers to and from all activities and walkable field trips including occasional trips from Prospect Park & Textile Arts Center; on-going evaluation of programming by photographing work, updating lesson plans if needed, and other administrative tasks.
