TAC offers a fun textile experience for campers that is flexible for families and supportive of all home situations. Choose your own adventure; create at home, share, and tune in to camp’s ‘live’ events when you’d like to - participate online or offline all summer long.
We are excited to curate a tactile off-screen experience for our community of young fiber artists. We imagine a summer of busy hands, and brilliant ideas, catching some fresh air on the stoop while knitting, or weaving on a hand quilted blanket in the park. All Summer long we will do our best to bring you TAC SUMMER CAMP VIBES!
In our tweens program this summer, campers will begin an in-depth exploration of sewing processes with a two-week quilting intensive. Each child will learn basic sewing terminology as well as the skills to master both hand and machine sewing. Campers will be encouraged to play with color and composition and experiment with processes such as cutting, piecing, pinning, binding, applique and decorative stitches. Dive deep into this world of piecing fabric together with our Adult and Youth Educator Emma Redmond, whose modern approach to quilting will inspire students to find their own voice with textiles. Registration for this class comes with a machine that we will provide for the duration of the class. You may also use your own machine if you already have one.
