Deadline Extended: Missing/Missed

We all have things we yearn for in the future and from the past. These things (lovers and pets and cars and mother and idea and …) drive us. They swirl around under the surface. We desire to capture and recapture the thing in memory or actuality. Most of the time we don't know exactly what any one thing is. We can't quite put our finger on the exact demand.

Artists are asked to submit the missing or missed piece, searching behind their memories and yearnings, for that thing, that created thing, that will bring it all together.

Eligibility
Open to all artists 18 or over working in the broad definition of textile and fiber arts.
Selection will be made from CD or DVD only.
Note: video is welcome in all its forms. There will be a video screening evening during the exhibition.

Juror
Scott Henstrand- Brooklyn artist and curator. Curated shows include “Lack of Desire” at Brooklyn Arts Council and BWAC. Upcoming exhibit Sept. 2011- “Flesh and Blood” at GAGA Center.

Submission Guidelines
All Textile Media
Submission is $30 non-refundable fee. Submit one image each of three artworks on CD or via email. (For 3D pieces you may include one additional detail image per work.). Two additional works may be submitted for $5 each. No more than five submissions will be accepted.
1. Label the CD with artist's name, phone number and email address.
2. Format: JPEG only; maximum image resolution 150 dpi (dots per inch); no single image should exceed 2 MB (megabytes)
3. Save each image as name of artist and number of work (e.g. Lastname1.jpg, Lastname2.jpg, Lastname2detail.jpg, Lastname3.jpg)
4. Note: Do not submit PowerPoint or PDF slide shows, flash files, web sites, etc. Please use only one CD for all images.
5. Include the following with CD:
• Printed list detailing name of jpeg
file, title, medium, size, date completed.
• Typed artist’s statement, 75 words
or less on entry form.
• Completed Entry Form (see below.)
Note: CDs will not be returned

Video
On a DVD submit a segment representative of your work- no longer than three minutes for the jurying process
1. Label the DVD with artist's name, phone number and email address.
2. Include with DVD the following:
• Printed list with title and date with a description
and viewing instructions.
• Typed artist’s statement, 75 words
or less on entry form.
• Completed Entry Form (see below.)
Note: DVDs will not be returned
3. If submitting via email, link to video on hosted site is preferrable.

1. Work must be shipped to arrive between January 3-7, 2011. Artists are responsible for all prepaid shipping, fees, and insurance. Prepaid label for return shipping must be enclosed. Works without prepaid return labels will not be installed.
2. All work must be delivered ready for installation or hanging with all hardware and directions included.
3. Work must be labeled with the artist’s name, title, media and dimensions, as well as the price or “Not for Sale” (NFS). Attach installation directions.
4. Artwork delivered after January 7, 2011 will not be accepted.
Note: The Gallery reserves the right, at its sole discretion and interest, to refuse to exhibit any work that is damaged or differs from the images submitted.

Liability and Sales
Accepted works are insured for duration of the exhibition. Artists are responsible for shipping to and from the exhibition. Submission of work for this exhibit constitutes agreement with all terms and conditions stated above. The Textile Arts Center charges 25% commission on sales made as a result of the exhibition.

Removal of Work
All work will be return shipped March 2nd, 2011. The gallery will dispose of works shipped without a prepaid return shipping label.

Calendar
