Every Third Thursday at Textile Arts Center, Brooklyn Studio

December 19

Join us for the Make It, Mend It Club every third Thursday at Textile Arts Center, Brooklyn Studio! A social gathering for makers who love to work with fiber. We'll supply needles, sewing machines, yarn, and more. Bring clothing to mend or start a new project in a welcoming space where you can bring old friends, meet new ones, and share ideas & techniques! Any donations towards materials are greatly appreciated.

December's meeting: Make It, Mend It Club x FSA: A History of Visible Mending with speaker Kate Sekules. This hands-on session and talk will offer a chance to work on your mending while learning about the context of the current mending movement and a brief history of clothing repair. Kate Sekules is a mending historian, writer and visible mender She holds an MA in Costume Studies (NYU), and is on the board of the U.K. Ethical Fashion Forum and the sustainable fashion tech platform Common Objective. Her book MEND! A Refashioning Manual and Manifesto will be published by Penguin next year. @visiblemend @fashionstudiesalliance
