Weaving 101

Learn how to weave cloth on a floor loom! In this 12hour course, students will learn the principles of hand-weaving on a 4 harness floor loom, including how to wind your own warp, dress the loom, and explore basic weave structuresβ€” plain weave, basket weave, ribs and twills.


Weaving 101 is offered in 4-Week and Weekend Intensives formats. Both feature 12 hours of skill-building class time, plus free Open Studio time to practice techniques outside of class.







In this class, students will learn how to design and hand weave their own trims, belts and straps using the Inkle Loom. Students curious about the basics of the woven structure will enjoy this warp-faced weaving process. Open to beginners or seasoned weavers curious about a new process, Inkle Weaving is a fun opportunity to explore new technique. Your instructor will also share some historical and contemporary uses of the Inkle Loom and assist with project planning.


Inkle Loom Weaving is offered as a Weekend Intensive, which features 12 hours of skill-building class time, plus free Open Studio time to practice techniques outside of class.

Drafting 101


Drafting 101 is a class for weavers of all levels who are ready to delve further into the math and logic behind planning a weaving. Students will learn how to read weave drafts, practice drawing drafts, and leave with an understanding of how to create their own draft so that they can plan personal projects.    


Drafting 101 is offered as a 1 Day Class, and it will be best when combined with weaving practice and/or weaving classes.


Pre-requsite: Weaving 101, or equivalent weaving experience.

Weaving - After Workshops

The After Workshops are a series of high quality hands-on classes, at low cost and low commitment. Materials, skills and fun supplied. Classes cover a variety of techniques. All skill levels welcome. Plus they are BYOB. Below are a list of upcoming After Workshops in Weaving:



Weaving is back at TAC NYC! In this workshop you'll learn basic weaving techniques on a two harness floor loom, exploring woven design options, through experimenting with color and texture. Students will work on pre dressed looms, and experiment painting their warp with textile inks to create imagery or pattern for their woven swatch.  A great introduction for new weavers, no experience is necessary! β€‹
