Work in Progress: Alicia Scardetta

This month, along with sunny, spring days, a new program started at TAC Manhattan – Work in Progress.

Work in Progress (WiP) is a behind the scenes look into the studio practice of contemporary artists and designers, to engage the public in a dialogue surrounding innovation in the field of textiles. For one month, the selected artist will take over TAC Manhattan’s store-front window  and (re)create an active display of their studio and work, including tools, materials and their artwork in various stages of progress.

For the month of April,  WiP will be featuring the studio and work of Alicia Scardetta, an amazing weaver and TAC instructor.

Alicia’s studio display is colorful and playful like her work, and includes some of her weavings, favorite yarns, inspiration images and objects. The central focus is a large 4 x 6 foot frame loom, on which she will be working during open studio hours, allowing the public to see the week by week progress.
