Work In Progress: Ali Smith from Salt & Still

We had an especially inspiring fall at TAC Manhattan with  Work In Progress resident, Ali Smith, of Salt and Still!

Ali works with traditional techniques such as quilting, embroidery and natural dyeing, inspired from the natural and magic world. Her creations, including quilts, pillows, jewelry and other objects, are all hand-made, stitched and dyed, and showcase incredible craftsmanship and attention to every detail.

Ali’s residency also included a Sashiko Stitching and Quilting Techniques workshop, where she shared  her process and expertise with the TAC community.

If you haven’t been to Ali Smith’s studio installation for Work In Progress, you have until December 7th to catch it and get inspired!

TAC’s Work In Progress program offers a behind the scenes look into the practice of contemporary artists and designers, to engage the public in a dialogue surrounding innovation in the world of textiles.
