It seems like it was just yesterday that Alicia Scardetta was interning at the Textile Arts Center and beginning to conceive of some really stellar new ideas of wrapping yarn while weaving. But it wasn’t yesterday – it was three years ago! Since her time at TAC she has wasted no time at all, and has been busy at her frame loom while her work has been recognized by and The Wall Street Journal.

Directly referencing friendship bracelets, she is incredibly playful with her use of color. She has elaborated on a particular theme ad infinitum, and with a technique that is extremely time consuming — the results are masterful. I love the way she plays with scale with some of her newer works made using wrapped cord. Her works can be found for purchase at TENOVERSIX. Bravo Alicia, you’ve made us proud!
