NY State Sheep and Wool Festival!

Last week, we headed up to Rhinebeck, NY to check out the 2014 NY State Sheep and Wool Festival. When we arrived, we were in fiber-nerd heaven — our day was filled with shaggy sheep, knitting competitions, piles of wool roving, beautiful fall leaves, alpaca, awesome knitwear, and more. Weren’t able to make it this year? Live vicariously through our photo diary below!

One of the most incredible areas of the festival was the fleece sale building. Open bags, divided by animal and breed, covered long rows of tables. Fleece as far as the eye could see! It’s not every day that you get to dive your hands into a bag of pure alpaca fur or feel the texture of freshly sheered, uncarded wool. Textiles paradise:

What would a sheep festival be without a little herding? Check out this beautiful border collie as she rounds up her meandering companions:

And, my personal favorite, the llama and alpaca section. I love these guys:

What a great day! See you there next October!
