About Our After School Classes

During the school year, we offer educational and fun after-school classes for youth ages 6 - 11 in Weaving, Printing+Dyeing, Needle Arts, and Sewing+Fashion.

Classes are offered in 9 weeks cycles, Monday - Thursday, 3:30-6PM, on a rotating basis. You can try one or all four! Space is limited.

Each 9-week class is $450, including materials. If you register for more than one class at a time, each additional class is 10% off!

Class options

Weaving
In our weaving class, students will learn the basics of dressing a 4-harness loom, and the core principles of weaving and pattern reading while creating fabric of their own!

Printing + Dyeing
Students will learn the basics of surface design through printing and dyeing, incorporating drawing and design done 100% by the kids! Students explore stencils, block printing, and photo emulsion processes, as well as about resist and immersion dyeing with both natural and synthetic dyes.

Class options

Needle Arts (Knit, Crochet, Embroider, Felt!)
The needle arts encompass many things: embroidery, hand-sewing, knitting, crochet, and wet or dry felting. This class will be an overview of these processes, with a focus on felting, where the students will design a final project using some or all of the techniques they have learned!

Sewing + Fashion
Sewing is one of the most practical skills a kid could learn! We introduce students to hand-sewing and sewing pattern reading, while graduating them up to the use of a sewing machine. The class will focus on garment construction, teaching kids the basics of using a pattern, as well as altering clothing. (Most appropriate for kids 7 and up)
